Ben Sauls made all four of his field-goal attempts, with three accounting for the only second-half scoring, as the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Carolina Panthers 19-10 on Thursday in Charlotte.
The teams' starting quarterbacks -- Pittsburgh's Aaron Rodgers and Carolina's Bryce Young -- both sat out the final preseason contest.
Skylar Thompson led the Steelers' passing attack with a 24-yard scoring pass to Lance McCutcheon before finishing 11-for-13 for 152 yards. Mason Rudolph started and went 6-for-8 for 36 yards with an interception, while Logan Woodside was 4-for-6 for 38 yards.
Scotty Miller had three receptions for 82 yards for the Steelers (2-1). Trey Sermon gained 39 yards on four carries.
Jack Plummer was Carolina's QB for the first half, and he wound up 7-for-14 for 48 yards with a 7-yard scoring pass to James Mitchell and one interception. Bryce Perkins connected on 10 of 11 passes for 71 yards.
Raheem Blackshear led the Panthers (0-3) with 11 carries for 35 yards.
Giants 42, Patriots 10
Tommy DeVito threw for 198 yards and three touchdowns to lead New York to a runaway victory over visiting New England in the preseason finale for both teams in East Rutherford, N.J.
Starting quarterback Russell Wilson was held out of the exhibition, giving each of the Giants' three backups a chance to get some reps. Rookie Jaxson Dart got the start for New York (3-0) and led a touchdown drive to begin the game, capping it off with a 7-yard touchdown to Greg Dulcich.
When Dart left due to a hit to the head, Jameis Winston entered and threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Jalin Hyatt on his first play. Dart subsequently cleared concussion protocol, though he didn't play again.
But it was DeVito who got the lion's share of the reps, playing the entire second half and completing 17 of 20 passes (85 percent) while turning what was a 14-10 Giants lead at halftime into a runaway win. TJ Moore also had a 44-yard interception return for a touchdown in the second half.
The Patriots (2-1) sat starting QB Drake Maye out as well, electing to play rookie Ben Wooldridge (10 of 20, 82 yards, a TD and an interception) for the entire game. Jeremiah Webb led New England with 31 receiving yards and caught the team's only touchdown of the game.
