The Seattle Mariners acquired All-Star second baseman Adam Frazier from the San Diego Padres on Saturday in exchange for left-hander Ray Kerr and outfielder Corey Rosier.
"Adam is a proven, versatile and well-rounded player," said Jerry Dipoto, Mariners president of baseball operations. "His presence makes our lineup longer and our team more complete."
Frazier didn't have a long stay in San Diego. He was acquired along with cash considerations by the Padres from the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 26 in exchange for infielder/outfielder Tucupita Marcano, outfield prospect Jack Suwinski and right-handed pitching prospect Michell Miliano.
Frazier, who turns 30 in December, was an All-Star with Pittsburgh last season. Also a part-time outfielder, he batted .305 with five homers and 43 RBIs in 155 games split with the Pirates and Padres last season.
He has batted .281 with 40 home runs, 127 doubles and 215 RBIs in 665 career games since being selected by Pittsburgh in the sixth round of the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Mississippi State.
Kerr, 27, owns an 11-19 record with a 3.91 ERA in 98 career minor-league games (36 starts). The hard-throwing hurler, who has yet to make his major-league debut, posted a 2-1 mark with five saves and a 3.18 ERA in 36 games between Double-A Arkansas and Triple-A Tacoma last season.
Rosier, 22, batted .380 with three homers and 23 RBIs in 32 games with the Arizona Rookie League Mariners and Single-A Modesto in 2021.
